Sing Nien Kwai Le!!

On the 1st day of CNY, as usual we went to visit our relatives. Only had to visit my oldest uncle’s house because everyone else went there as well. Can kill all da birds with one stone! Efficient kan?

Tai Kar Juk! (big family)

Then on the 2nd day, early in da morning, my sis and I set out to pick up my best friend, Joyce to go off for our vacation! My dear blog readers, I’d like to apologize for lying thru my fingers about going to Melaka. Had plan a surprise trip to see my bf in Penang. The traffic there was quite smooth, lotsa cars but smooth flowing. Once we reached Penang, went straight for our favourite mee goreng!

Then on the way back to my aunt’s places…

Ancient fire hydrant (had to take this pic coz besfren got soooo excited over it, heheh)

Then we all took a nice long afternoon nap at my aunt’s place before going off for another makan-spree. We had dinner at the Pulau Tikus market. My sis was craving otak-otak but unfortunately, the otak-otak uncle never came although the stall selling it kept saying “he’s on his way, should be here any minute”. Said the same thing about 45 mins later. Sheeesh!

Nevermind, we still had food a plenty!

After dinner, we made our way to Batu Ferringhi for some shopping at the night market there. Lotsa stuff there but not really very cheap… it’s nothing compared to Bangkok. Still, girls will be girls, we bought some stuff. Tengah syok-syok shopping, I forgot to take any pics.

The next day, we went to this yummy Dim Sum place near Sunshine Square just to find it gone!! Sigh! Disappointed we went to a place near my aunt’s house for breakfast.

After that, we went to Ghee Hiang to get Tau Sar Pneah!

Ghee Hiang’s angels!

Since Joyce knew the owners, we were invited to their place for a CNY visit. Their house was huge and really pretty. They are really nice people, very friendly, humble and down-to-earth. We even met their children.

They even gave us some samples of their new biscuits which have not been marketed yet.

Tried and tested. Passed the yummy-test with flying colours!

We had nasi kandar for lunch. It was Mrs Ghee Hiang’s recommendation and it was really good! After lunch was the execution of our top-secret mission. Made our way to Island Plaza to surprise my bf who still thought we were in Melaka. He smsed to say that he was going to have lunch so I expected him to be either at the food court upstairs or still at the gym. So I happily thought I could surprise him there. Once we came thru the front entrance… voila there he was! My sis spotted him 1st and gestured me to hide. But we were all so gelabah we ran and caused a commotion and of course he spotted us. Sigh! Guess we are not made for the private investigation or spy business. Sis and Joyce went off and left me with him. Despite the funny way we surprised him, it was still a surprise because he really did not suspect I was not where I said I was.

Reunited and it feels so good!

After that we went to his house to pai nin his family. Later that evening, we went to a Chinese restaurant to buy Yee Sang and drove off to the beach! We went to this café by the beach to have our dinner and to Low Sang. Bf couldn’t join us because he had a birthday dinner to attend.

Our unconventional Low Sang CNY Dinner

On the way back to aunt’s house, we got caught in a 1hr 45min jam! The traffic in Penang was TERRIBLE! Think it’s the last time I’ll drive to Penang on CNY. The next time I wanna surprise bf, think I’ll fly. But it won’t be so easy this time round because once bitten twice shy. Nevermind, it’ll be a fun challenge to conquer!

The next morning, we all packed up to leave. How good times flies!! We were gonna go home… but not before my sis and I took a pic with our Grandma.

After that we went to pick my bf up at his house and made our way to the reflexology center. They didn’t have enough masseurs at the time so they asked us to come back at 1pm. So we went to makan 1st. At the kopitiam, look at what we saw…

Not roomie enough in there???

One last pic with bf before I left

Then all four of us had a nice long reflexology for our feet, back and shoulders. The session was goooood! Ahhhh! Joyce found it rather painful though the after effect was very relieving. As we were going off, sis wanted to have one last time of nasi kandar before we left. So we did. We also bungkus some pastries and bread for the journey back.

Oh right before we left, bf decided to try on the funny hat Joyce bought at Ferringhi… doesn’t it look good on him?

Nga Chat Sou!! heheheh

Then it was off to KL. Traffic was smooth initially but it was awfully jammed up as we approach Tanjung Malim. We thought it was due to the heavy traffic during the festivities alas!! Guess what we saw some 2 hours later around Rawang area… an S-Class all kemek from an accident… on the OPPOSITE side of the road!! Argh! All that hours of jam just due to the kepoh drivers looking across the road at the accident!!!

Besides the terrible traffic, it was a great trip!! It was indeed a happy CNY… Sin Nien Kwai Le!!
